We are seeking an Investment Banking Associate to join a leading UK Coverage team in London, with a strong focus on Mergers & Acquisitions advisory. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with UK-listed corporates, privately owned businesses, financial sponsors, and management teams on a range of strategic transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, carve-outs, and other corporate advisory mandates.

The successful candidate will play a key role in originating and executing transactions, conducting detailed financial analysis, managing due diligence processes, and supporting senior bankers in delivering strategic advice to clients.

Key ResponsibilitiesM&A Transaction Execution
  1. Support the execution of UK and cross-border M&A transactions from inception through to completion.
  2. Assist with managing transaction processes, coordinating advisors, and ensuring key milestones are achieved.
  3. Prepare transaction marketing materials, information memoranda, management presentations, and board materials.
Financial Modelling & Valuation
  1. Build and maintain detailed financial models, including DCF, trading comparables, precedent transactions, merger models, and accretion/dilution analysis.
  2. Perform company valuations and strategic analyses to support transaction recommendations.
  3. Assess transaction structures and analyse their financial impact on clients.
Client Advisory
  1. Support senior bankers in advising corporate clients on strategic alternatives, acquisitions, disposals, and broader corporate finance matters.
  2. Participate in client meetings and assist in developing tailored strategic recommendations.
  3. Build an understanding of client objectives, industry dynamics, and key value drivers.
Market Research & Industry Analysis
  1. Conduct detailed company, industry, and market research.
  2. Monitor UK M&A activity, sector trends, and strategic developments.
  3. Identify potential acquisition targets, buyers, and strategic opportunities for clients.
Due Diligence & Transaction Management
  1. Coordinate due diligence workstreams with clients, legal counsel, accountants, and other advisers.
  2. Manage virtual data rooms and facilitate information exchange between stakeholders.
  3. Support the preparation and review of transaction documentation.
Team Collaboration
  1. Work closely with M&A, Leveraged Finance, ECM, DCM, and industry coverage teams to deliver integrated solutions for clients.
  2. Mentor Analysts and contribute to a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Candidate RequirementsExperience
  1. 2–4 years of experience within Investment Banking, M&A Advisory, Corporate Finance, Transaction Services, or Deal Advisory.
  2. Demonstrable experience supporting live M&A transactions and corporate finance engagements.
  3. Experience within a leading investment bank, advisory boutique, or Big 4 corporate finance team is highly desirable.
Education
  1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  2. ACA, CFA, MBA, or equivalent professional qualifications are advantageous.
Technical Skills
  1. Strong financial modelling and valuation expertise.
  2. Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  3. Ability to analyse complex financial and operational information and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
