Electrical Project Engineer

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, the Project Engineer (Electrical) shall be part of a team responsible for delivering the project engineering across a portfolio of grid connected renewable energy projects. This shall include:

1. Design Co-ordination of electrical engineering packages:
1. Co-ordinate the design inputs from all contractors responsible for design on site
2. Proactively identify design issues early and resolve these issues or escalate to the head of engineering
3. Lead design co-ordination meetings between all contractors focused on responsible engineering packages
4. Manage design register and provide regular updates to the project team
5. Manage contractors' due dates and ensuring contractors deliver their required design deliverables correctly and on time
2. Document Control for electrical engineering packages:
1. Manage all electrical drawings and calculations required for the project
2. Ensure correct and latest revisions of all drawings and calculations are used by all contractors in the design, development and construction of the project.
3. Communicating Design Information between Contractors and to Site Team for one or more projects:
1. Based on site for a minimum of 1 day a week during the construction phase on the project
2. Regular site visits to review design developments with site based team and to assist project management team in any design related issues that arise during construction
4. Design Development of future projects
1. Support the Engineering Director in developing designs and specifications and evaluating contractors for future battery and hydrogen ready gas peaking plants
5. Undertaking an Owners Engineer role from an electrical engineering point of view, providing review of electrical design work undertaken by contractors for both their own and other projects constructed by the team
1. Review of contractor designs and calculations
2. Earthing designs
3. Protection
4. Fault levels
5. Grid studies - P28, G5/4, G99, load flow analysis
6. Providing high level specification of electrical design
1. Transformers, switchgear, substation environments etc
7. Representing the company in meetings with designers, ESO, DNOs, suppliers and on site teams

Useful Additional Skills
In addition to the main duties, it would be beneficial if the Project Engineer had some or all of the following skills:

• Knowledge of 275kV substation design
• Knowledge of electrical safety rules up to 400kV
• Knowledge of gas peaking plant construction
• Ability to liaise with DNOs and National Grid to manage and optimise the design and delivery of grid connection offers
• AutoCAD 2D
• 3D CAD Design

Experience
Probably in the region of 5-10 years within a renewables, grid or energy generation environment (gas peaking plants, energy storage, wind, solar) supporting construction projects

Location
Hybrid working - 4 days a week in Central London or on site, 1 day a week home office

Qualifications
MEng in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
