FP&A Lead | 6-month contract | £400 to £500 per day (inside IR35) | September start

We are partnering with a consumer goods business to recruit an Interim FP&A Lead for an initial six-month contract. This is a high-impact role for an experienced FP&A professional who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced start-up environment. The successful candidate will take ownership of the company-wide annual budgeting process and provide the financial insight required to support growth and improve performance. Experience working within an inventory-led business is essential. This could include retail, consumer goods, e-commerce, manufacturing, wholesale or distribution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver the company-wide annual budgeting process from initial planning through to final consolidation and senior leadership approval.
  • Coordinate budget submissions across all functions, challenging assumptions and ensuring commercial alignment.
  • Manage rolling forecasts, scenario planning and longer-term financial planning.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial models to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Partner closely with senior leadership, commercial, operational and supply chain stakeholders.
  • Analyse inventory performance, including stock levels, purchasing, inventory turns, provisions, obsolescence and working capital.
  • Provide insight into the relationship between sales forecasts, inventory requirements, cash flow and operational capacity.
  • Deliver monthly performance reporting, including variance analysis against budget and forecast.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities and communicate clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Improve FP&A processes, reporting, controls and management information as the business continues to scale.
  • Support cash flow forecasting and wider commercial or strategic projects.

Candidate Profile

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified
  • Significant experience within FP&A, commercial finance or financial planning.
  • Demonstrable experience owning and delivering a company-wide annual budget process.
  • Essential experience working within a business that holds and manages physical inventory.
  • Strong understanding of inventory, working capital and cash flow management.
  • Comfortable working in a start-up or scale-up environment.
