Location: Palestra House, London (Hybrid Working)

Pay Rate:

  • £311 per day PAYE
  • £424.34 per day Umbrella

Contract Length: 6-Month Rolling Contract

About the Role

Reed Talent Solutions is partnering with Transport for London (TfL) to recruit a Surface & Highway Structures B2 Engineer to join TfL's Engineering Directorate.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Civil or Structural Engineer with experience in highway structures, bridge engineering, inspections, design, construction or asset management to contribute to the safety, reliability and performance of one of the UK's largest transport networks.

Working within TfL's Surface & Highway Structures team, you will provide technical support and assurance across a diverse portfolio of assets, helping to ensure structures remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose throughout their lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering advice and technical support relating to highway structures assets.
  • Support the technical assurance of capital projects, maintenance programmes and third-party developments.
  • Review structural inspections, assessments and engineering proposals in line with relevant standards and best practice.
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of structures assets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Support investigations and provide engineering input following operational incidents affecting structures.
  • Monitor engineering and construction activities, identifying and escalating technical risks where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams, consultants, contractors and operational stakeholders.
  • Contribute to asset management initiatives and continuous improvement activities.

About You

We're looking for candidates with:

  • HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
  • Highway structures
  • Bridge engineering
  • Structural inspections
  • Structural assessment
  • Civil engineering design
  • Construction engineering
  • Asset management
  • Infrastructure maintenance
  • Knowledge of engineering standards, legislation and health & safety requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working within a consultancy, contractor, local authority or infrastructure owner environment.
  • Knowledge of DMRB, Eurocodes or highway structures standards.
  • Graduate or Technician Member of ICE, or working towards professional accreditation.
  • Experience with bridge inspections and highway structures asset management.
