Senior Business Analyst - Credit & Market Risk Transformation - 3-Month Initial Contract - Strike IT - #2118666

Outside IR35 | Fully Remote + Monthly Travel to Germany

We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst with strong Credit and Market Risk knowledge to support a major Risk Transformation programme within a commodities and refining environment.

The organisation is modernising its current approach to Credit and Market Risk, moving away from heavily customised legacy processes and manual spreadsheet-based calculations, monitoring and reporting towards a dedicated enterprise Risk technology solution.

The successful candidate will sit between Risk, Trading, Business and Technology , helping define the future-state processes, Target Operating Model and requirements for the new Risk platform.

1. Lead Business Analysis activities across a Credit and Market Risk transformation programme
2. Work with Risk stakeholders to understand existing Credit Risk and Market Risk processes, calculations, controls and workflows
3. Document current-state and future-state Risk business processes
4. Identify manual processes, control gaps and opportunities for automation
5. Support the definition of the future Credit and Market Risk operating model
6. Design and document the Target Operating Model (TOM) across people, process, technology, data and governance
7. Gather, analyse and document detailed business and functional requirements for the future Risk platform
8. Translate Risk business requirements into clear requirements for Technology and implementation teams
9. Review existing spreadsheet-based Risk calculations, monitoring and reporting processes
10. Support the definition of future Risk calculations, workflows, controls and reporting requirements
11. Assess how the future Risk solution will integrate and interact with the existing SAP trading environment
12. Support requirements and process definition around areas such as collateral management, Credit Risk monitoring and Market Risk
13. Work closely with Risk SMEs, Trading, Technology, Architecture and programme stakeholders
14. Support the programme through Definition and into the subsequent implementation / execution phases
15. Produce high-quality documentation covering requirements, process maps, workflows, operating models and functional specifications

1. Strong Business Analysis experience within Credit Risk and/or Market Risk
2. Good functional understanding of Credit Risk and Market Risk processes, calculations, controls and workflows
3. Proven experience working on Risk Platform / Risk System implementations or transformation programmes
4. Strong experience gathering and documenting business and functional requirements for technology implementations
5. Excellent Target Operating Model (TOM) design experience
6. Strong business process mapping and process re-engineering experience
7. Experience documenting current-state and future-state processes
8. Ability to understand complex Risk calculations and translate these into business and system requirements
9. Experience working across Risk, Business and Technology teams
10. Strong understanding of Risk data, reporting, controls and governance
11. Excellent documentation and stakeholder management skills
12. Ability to operate as the bridge between Risk SMEs and technical implementation teams

1. Experience within Commodities, Energy Trading, Refining or Physical Trading environments
2. Understanding of Credit and Market Risk within physical and financial commodity trading
3. Experience of commodity trading / ETRM environments and associated Risk processes
4. Experience working with SAP-based trading environments
5. Collateral Management process or system experience
6. Experience with CubeLogic would be advantageous but is not essential
7. Candidates from Investment Banking, Capital Markets or the Buy Side will also be considered where they have strong Credit / Market Risk and Risk technology implementation experience

The initial Discovery phase has been completed and the programme is now moving into the Definition phase , where the future Risk processes, requirements, operating model and technology solution will be shaped.

The longer-term programme is expected to move into implementation and execution following this phase, creating strong potential for contract extensions.
