We are seeking a dedicated Residential Childcare Officer to join our team at the Ade Adepitan Short Break Centre. This role is crucial for the wellbeing and support of children and young people with autistic spectrum disorders, physical disabilities, and complex health needs, ensuring their dignity, independence, privacy, and choice are maximised.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Act as a professional member of the staff team, responsible for the wellbeing of children and young people.
  • Support the delivery of services within the framework of Every Disabled Child Matters, Children's Homes Quality Standards, and the Children Homes Regulations 2015.
  • Make the short break experience enjoyable and beneficial for children and young people.
  • Undertake specific responsibilities including managing autistic spectrum disorders, complex physical care, and administration of medication via gastrostomy.
  • Act as a Shift Leader, coordinating shifts, offering support and guidance, and allocating tasks to staff members.
  • Serve as a keyworker for individual children or young people, managing key stages such as admission and transitions in line with their personal Care Plan.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with staff, children/young people, parents, carers, and other professionals.
  • Prepare reports and participate in meetings to ensure the continuous improvement of service quality.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Must hold, be working towards, or commit to achieving the Level 4 Diploma for Children, Young People and Families Practitioner (Residential Pathway).
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Children Act 1989 and the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
  • Experience working with children and young people with profound disabilities and Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
  • Ability to plan and implement stimulating social and recreational activities suitable for children and young people with disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working as part of a dynamic team.
