Your new role
Financial Operations & Controls
- Take ownership of a broad range of day-to-day financial processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and strong financial governance.
- Oversee the processing, review and validation of a significant volume of expenditure-related transactions.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure supporting documentation is complete and compliant with internal policies.
- Provide support across transactional finance activities when required.
Reporting & Analysis
- Produce regular financial reporting and analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Investigate variances and identify trends, risks and opportunities across departmental expenditure.
- Prepare reconciliations and supporting schedules, ensuring any discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
- Contribute to the preparation of periodic financial reporting packs and stakeholder presentations.
- Assist with forecasting and budgeting activities, providing meaningful commentary and insight.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with managers across the organisation to gather information, understand business activity and provide financial guidance.
- Build effective relationships with both finance and non-finance colleagues, acting as a trusted point of contact for financial matters.
- Support decision-making through the provision of clear, accurate and commercially focused information.
- Respond to internal and external queries in a professional and timely manner.
Process Improvement
- Continuously review existing processes and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency and reporting quality.
- Support the development and documentation of best practice procedures and controls.
- Contribute to finance projects and wider business initiatives as required.
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience working in a similar cost-focused accounting role, within a busy finance function where accuracy and attention to detail are critical.
- A proven ability to manage a high volume of transactions, data and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively and work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- The confidence to challenge, investigate and follow through on issues independently.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the business.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using finance systems (Xero advantageous).
- A proactive approach and a genuine desire to improve processes and drive efficiencies.
- Part Qualified/actively working towards a professional accounting qualification.
