cer Financial are partnering with a leading international bank in London, seeking a Compliance Communications Monitoring Officer for a 6-month contract. This is a great opportunity to join a well-established organisation and play a key role within its Compliance team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support the Compliance Communications Monitoring function, including the IT aspects of the monitoring system.
  2. Provide hands-on troubleshooting and administration of the existing communications monitoring tool.
  3. Review use cases, data quality, keywords, algorithms and screening effectiveness to optimise monitoring.
  4. Coordinate testing, calibration and quality assurance of the surveillance platform.
  5. Investigate and resolve screening issues, working closely with IT, Compliance and third-party vendors.
  6. Support the evaluation and implementation of alternative communications monitoring solutions, including RFPs, requirements gathering and testing.
  7. Assess proposed technology solutions, identifying risks, opportunities and technical/compliance considerations.
  8. Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and Head Office.
  9. Identify and escalate high-risk findings or incidents promptly.
  10. Review and update Communications Monitoring policies and procedures and ensure they align with the monitoring solution.

The candidate:

  1. 5+ years’ experience in Communications Monitoring within an overseas bank or similar financial institution.
  2. Strong knowledge of UK regulatory requirements relating to communications surveillance.
  3. Experience with communications monitoring system implementation, testing and optimisation.
  4. Hands-on experience with keyword scanning datasets and surveillance lexicons.
  5. Experience using automated monitoring tools such as Arctera, Microsoft Purview or Global Relay.
  6. Strong data analysis and visualisation skills, including Excel and PowerPoint, particularly for MI reporting.
  7. Excellent research, investigation and problem-solving skills, using both qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  8. Ability to translate technical concepts, risks and opportunities for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  9. Degree or equivalent demonstrating strong analytical and written reasoning skills.
