A privately-owned single-family office supporting a UK-based family and their personal, investment and business interests. Art is the family's principal asset class, alongside an investment portfolio, property and privately owned businesses.
The office manages a number of entities and works closely with external accountants, tax advisers, lawyers, investment managers and other specialist providers. One entity is regulated as an art market participant for anti-money laundering purposes.
About the roleThe CFO has broad responsibility for the family's financial affairs and the day-to-day running of the family office. It is a senior role that combines oversight with hands-on delivery, working directly with the principal and external advisers. The CFO will lead the family office team and act as a sounding board for the family in their financial decision-making.
Leadership- Act as a trusted adviser to the family across their personal, investment and business
- Lead the family’s financial strategy, working with external advisers.
- Oversee financial and management reporting across the family office and associated businesses, ensuring the family have clear and relevant information to support decision-making.
- Prepare financial reporting and information for Family Council and board meetings, and follow up agreed actions.

- Maintain robust internal financial
- Manage treasury, cash flow, banking and funding requirements, including mortgages and intercompany balances.
- Oversee business and personal bill payments, payment authorisation controls and fraud risk.
- Oversee personal and business tax compliance, and work with external advisers on tax planning and advisory matters.
- Oversee investment reporting and cash flows, and coordinate with investment managers and advisers.
- Provide financial and operational oversight of the family's art collection and related art businesses.
- Oversee the financial aspects of rental properties including cost and cash flow
- Lead and develop the family office finance team and the art business team, including recruitment and performance management.
- Oversee HR, payroll and employment matters, working with external advisers and
- Manage and coordinate external advisers and service providers, and oversee family office costs, professional fees and supplier contracts, including
ensuring the family office has the right mix of internal and external capability.
- Oversee insurance arrangements, working alongside the Strategy
- Oversee IT systems, cyber security and external IT
- Act as Money Laundering Reporting Officer for the regulated art market participant entity, supported by the AML compliance officer, and oversee AML, legal and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee company secretarial and corporate governance requirements, and work with the management team and external advisers on the wider entity
- Maintain oversight of the family office risk framework and key financial, tax, statutory and governance deadlines.
- Identify financial, operational and governance risks and opportunities to ensure these are addressed appropriately.
- Qualified accountant with proven experience in a senior finance
- Experience of working with UHNW individuals or in a family-run
- Strong personal and corporate tax literacy, with the judgement to direct advisers rather than defer to them.
- Experience of leading and developing finance or operations
- Comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on in a dynamic
- Sound judgement and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Able to work autonomously and manage competing
- Experience of the art market or other specialist asset
- Experience acting as MLRO or working within an AML-regulated
