Chartered Building Surveyor - #2128583
Brandon James Ltd
A growing multi-disciplinary consultancy near King's Cross is looking for a Chartered Building Surveyor who wants direct client contact, genuine influence over the practice's direction, and a varied project portfolio across commercial, industrial and residential property.
The firm combines building surveying, project management and architecture under one roof, working across London and the surrounding region. The team is expanding and the hire will sit alongside architects, surveyors and project managers, with exposure to a broader range of instructions than a single-discipline practice typically offers.
The Chartered Building Surveyor Role
This Chartered Building Surveyor will split time between technical building surveying and project management across commercial, industrial and mixed-use property. The role carries direct client responsibility and regular contact with senior leaders across the practice.
There is scope to shape how the building surveying service develops as the team grows, making it well suited to someone who wants involvement beyond day-to-day delivery.
Duties of the Chartered Building Surveyor to include:
- Managing building surveying instructions from commission through to completion
- Acting as Project Manager and Contract Administrator on refurbishment and fit-out schemes
- Preparing specifications, schedules of work and tender documentation
- Undertaking building condition surveys and defect diagnosis
- Producing schedules of dilapidations and advising on landlord/tenant matters
- Overseeing contractor performance and reporting progress to clients
- Advising on planned maintenance and lifecycle costing
- Contributing to client development and maintaining trusted relationships
The Person?
The consultancy needs a technically strong Chartered Building Surveyor who is confident managing both project delivery and professional instructions, comfortable with direct client exposure, and interested in helping grow a team.
The Chartered Building Surveyor will ideally have:
- MRICS qualification
- Strong experience across building surveying and project management
- A background covering commercial and industrial property
- Confidence managing multiple live instructions simultaneously
- Ability to build and maintain client relationships
- Experience with contract administration and tender processes
- Clear communication and report-writing skills
In Return………?
- £55,000 - £70,000
- 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays
- Hybrid working
- Pension contribution
- Private healthcare
- Professional subscriptions paid
