Position: Quality Manager / Engineer

Start Date: 7th Sept

Duration: 3 months

Location: North London

Shifts: 11 day fortnight

Week 1: Mon to Fri 6:45-18:45, Weekend 6:15-14.15

Week 2: Mon to Wed 6:45-18:45 and Thurs 6:15-14:15

PAYE Pay Rates:

Mon-Sun, All Hrs: £50.00/hr PAYE, Including Holiday Pay

The Role:

Integrate Engineering Resources is currently recruiting for a Quality Manager / Engineer for a major power generation construction project in North London. The role will involve providing Quality Assurance and Quality Control support for all structural steel installation activities, ensuring works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, Quality Control Plans (QCPs), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), client requirements, and applicable standards. The role is responsible for inspection, traceability, dimensional control, and bolting compliance, quality documentation, and the compilation of handover dossiers.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance & Control:

Ensure all structural steel erection activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, procedures, and quality requirements.

Implement and monitor Quality Control Plans (QCPs), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and project quality procedures.

Raise, manage, and coordinate Notifications of Inspection (NOIs) for witness and hold points.

Conduct routine quality inspections and site surveillance activities.

Identify, record, and track non-conformances, observations, and corrective actions through to closure.

Support client audits, surveillance inspections, and quality reviews.

Materials Receipt, Traceability & Preservation:

Inspect incoming structural steelwork deliveries and verify assembly marks against approved drawings, fabrication records, and delivery documentation.

Check materials for shortages, transport damage, coating damage, and discrepancies upon receipt.

Raise deviation reports, shortage reports, and NCRs as required.

Maintain full traceability of structural steelwork, bolts, consumables, and associated materials.

Ensure material identification marks remain visible and traceable throughout erection activities.

Maintain preservation records and monitor storage conditions to prevent deterioration, corrosion, contamination, or damage.

Structural Steel Inspection:

Inspect erected steelwork for compliance with approved drawings and project specifications.

Verify alignment, plumbness, line, level, and erection tolerances.

Review and maintain dimensional control records and survey reports.

Coordinate with survey teams to ensure compliance with design requirements.

Monitor installation quality and workmanship standards throughout the erection process.

Bolting Inspection:

Inspect structural bolted connections in accordance with approved procedures and specifications.

Verify installation of preloaded and non-preloaded bolted assemblies.

Review and maintain bolt installation, tensioning, torque, and inspection records.

Maintain bolt traceability and certification records.

Ensure all bolting records are included in the final erection dossier.

Documentation & Quality Records:

Maintain quality records using Asite and Field View.

Complete inspection reports, check sheets, surveillance reports, and quality registers.

Ensure all drawings and documentation are current and approved for construction.

Compile and maintain structural steel erection dossiers and turnover packs.

Ensure all quality documentation is complete, accurate, and available for client review and project handover.

Calibration Control:

Manage the register of calibrated inspection, measuring, and test equipment.

Verify calibration certificates remain valid and available for audit.

Ensure only calibrated equipment is used for inspection and verification activities.

Coordination & Reporting:

Liaise with Construction Management, Site Supervision, Surveyors, Client Representatives, and Project Quality Teams.

Attend site coordination and quality meetings.

Provide quality status updates, inspection metrics, and progress reports.

Support punch list close-out and project turnover activities.

Requirements:

CCNSG card

CSWIP 3.1 Certified Welding Inspector

HNC/HND or equivalent in Engineering, Construction, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.

Minimum 3 years' experience in structural steelwork inspection and quality assurance.

Experience with steelwork erection, bolting inspection, and dimensional control.

Working knowledge of Asite and Field View.
