Central Recruitment is working with an organisation dedicated to providing safe, high-quality accommodation for young people.

Our client is currently recruiting three permanent Outreach Support Workers to support young adults aged 18–25 leaving the care system across North and East London. The service provides semi-independent supported accommodation, helping young people develop the skills and confidence to live independently.

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday
  • Shifts: 09:00 - 17:00

  • £28,860 per annum

Please note: This is an outreach role, working across multiple supported accommodation services in North and East London. You will be office-based one day per week. A car allowance and business mileage are provided.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support young adults aged 18-25 to develop and sustain independent living skills (budgeting, cooking, cleaning, tenancy management)
  • Deliver structured keywork sessions and co-producing individual support plans with each resident
  • Assist with education, employment and training goals - including CV writing, job applications and college enrolment
  • Maintain accurate, timely records using our digital case management system - including keywork notes, risk assessments and support plans
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all residents at all times
  • Liaise with local authority leaving care teams, social workers, personal advisers and other professionals
  • Support residents to manage mental health, wellbeing and personal challenges in a trauma-informed way
  • Accompany residents to appointments with external agencies (GP, Job Centre, local authority, etc.)
  • Respond calmly and professionally to conflict, emotional distress or challenging behaviour
     

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • At least 1 year of experience working with young adults aged 18-25 in a care, supported housing or semi-independent living setting
  • Genuine understanding of the challenges faced by care leavers making the transition to independent living
  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and trauma-informed approaches to working with care experienced young adults
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - you will produce keywork records, risk assessments and support plans to a professional standard
  • Confident IT skills and ability to use digital case management and reporting systems
  • Current Safeguarding certification - or willingness to complete upon appointment
     

DESIRABLE

  • NVQ / QCF Level 3 (or above) in Health & Social Care, Housing or a related discipline
  • Experience supporting young adults into education, employment or training (EET)
  • Knowledge of the Children (Leaving Care) Act, Care Act 2014 and Pathway Planning frameworks
     

ESSENTIAL

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car

FURTHER REQUIREMENTS:

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Current valid right to work in the UK
  • Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
  • A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
  • Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
