The Company:

Our client is a highly successful and entrepreneurial equity long/short hedge fund with an exceptional investment track record and an exciting growth trajectory. Having recently secured a significant Separately Managed Account (SMA), the business has entered a new phase of expansion, making this an excellent time to join

Founded by highly respected investment professionals, the firm has built an institutional-quality operating platform whilst retaining the agility and collaborative culture of a boutique investment manager. The strength of its operational infrastructure was recently highlighted during an extensive operational due diligence process undertaken by a sophisticated institutional investor, providing further validation of the quality of the business

I have known the COO personally for 20 years and have recruited a number of Operations staff for him over that time. All have gone on to have exceptional careers and are some of the most capable and technically astute in the market

This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing, close-knit team where your contribution will be visible from day one and where you'll have genuine exposure to senior decision makers across the firm

The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operations Analyst to join a dynamic Operations team supporting a sophisticated investment platform. This is a broad, hands-on position covering trade support, reconciliations, fund administration liaison and operational oversight

Note that the role is not hybrid and will require 5 office based days per week, with working hours being 7.30am - 6pm. However, the levels of professional and personal development will be exceptional, along with long-term earning potential

Whilst previous experience is required (read below), it is imperative that you are prepared to do the less exciting tasks as well as the more challenging ones. You will be the least experienced member of the team and a humble attitude is an absolute must

Working closely with senior management (across both investment and operations), you will gain exposure across the full investment operations lifecycle while interacting with a range of internal stakeholders and external service providers (who are top-tier institutions)

This role would suit an individual looking to build a long-term career within investment operations who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and contributing across a wide variety of responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the trade lifecycle, including trade support, settlement monitoring and exception management
  • Perform cash, position and P&L reconciliations against prime broker and custodian records
  • Maintain trade capture, position management and reporting within Enfusion
  • Liaise with fund administrators regarding NAV production, investor reporting and month-end processes
  • Assist with expense processing, invoice management and general financial administration
  • Support regulatory and compliance reporting activities
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, including the use of AI and automation tools
  • Provide general operational and administrative support to the wider business
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives

Your Experience:

The successful candidate is likely to possess:

  • 2-5 years' experience within investment operations, ideally gained in a hedge fund or asset management environment
  • A strong understanding of the trade lifecycle, including settlements, reconciliations and corporate actions
  • Experience working with prime brokers, custodians and fund administrators
  • Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables and data manipulation
  • Experience with Enfusion would be highly advantageous
  • Exposure to an equity long/short investment strategy would be beneficial
  • Experience using Python, VBA or AI tools to improve operational processes would be an advantage
  • Degree educated (or equivalent relevant experience)

Personal Attributes

  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A collaborative attitude and willingness to support the wider team
  • A genuine desire to develop a career within investment operations

What's on Offer:

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected investment firm where you will enjoy broad exposure across operations, work closely with senior leadership and play a key role within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

The position offers significant scope for professional development (including study support) alongside a highly competitive remuneration package.

Fully office based. Hours 7.30am - 6pm.
