HW Select Ltd

Experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead complex, business-critical technology programmes across a global organisation.

This is a highly autonomous role in a flat, fast-moving environment. You will be expected to take ownership, make decisions and drive projects forward without requiring constant direction or hand-holding. The successful person will be comfortable working directly with senior stakeholders, technology teams, business functions and third-party suppliers across multiple countries and time zones.

The Role

You will take ownership of a portfolio of global IT initiatives, managing projects from initial business case and planning through delivery, implementation and benefits realisation. This will include coordinating multiple workstreams, managing dependencies, budgets, risks, vendors and competing stakeholder priorities across different regions.

You will also:

  • Lead mid-size to large global technology programmes from concept through to successful delivery.
  • Manage multiple projects, stakeholders and priorities across different countries and business functions.
  • Establish clear governance, project plans, budgets, risk management and executive reporting.
  • Work closely with senior leadership and confidently challenge decisions or scope where appropriate.
  • Manage external technology partners, consultancies, system integrators and software vendors.
  • Ensure projects deliver genuine business value rather than simply reaching go-live.
  • Drive adoption, change management and continuous improvement across the organisation.
  • Operate effectively within a flat structure where personal ownership and initiative are essential.

The underlying role requires responsibility for portfolio-level governance, financial control, dependencies, vendor relationships and executive-level stakeholder management.

About You

We are particularly interested in candidates who are self-starters. You should be someone who sees what needs to be done, takes ownership and gets it moving rather than waiting for detailed instructions.

Ideally you will have:

  • 6+ years' experience delivering IT projects or programmes.
  • A strong track record of managing complex global or multinational projects.
  • Experience delivering major enterprise technology platforms or transformation programmes.
  • Excellent senior stakeholder management and the confidence to operate with executives.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including budgets, suppliers, contracts and business cases.
  • Experience managing third-party vendors and delivery partners.
  • The ability to manage ambiguity, conflicting priorities and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical issues into clear business language.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, MSP or similar certification would be advantageous, but strong delivery experience is more important.

The Person

This role will particularly suit someone coming from an environment where you have had to think for yourself, take responsibility and deliver without a large management hierarchy around you.

You need to be comfortable working globally, dealing with different cultures and time zones, and taking a project from an initial idea through to a tangible business outcome. The original specification places significant emphasis on autonomy, resilience, global delivery and the ability to operate independently on behalf of senior IT leadership.
