Job Profile Summary

This is a Senior Analyst position within the Exposure Management function, with specific focus on the Speciality classes of Energy & Marine. This role will include the line management and development of the Energy and Marine Analyst(s), in addition to the supervision of any external outsourced resources.

The role will provide exposure analysis services to the underwriting function at a risk and portfolio level. Accumulation will need to be closely monitored against the company’s risk appetites. The job holder requires an in-depth knowledge of exposure management.

The Senior Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the data and subsequent analytics. They will need to manage relationships with outsourcing partners and provide training where necessary. In addition to supporting the underwriting division, the Senior Analyst will help develop and enhance processes to manage the exposures of the Specialty classes and report accumulations into various committees and regulators.

Job Description
  1. Be the subject expert for capturing the exposure to Energy & Marine classes and the analysis of risk within our modelling and aggregation systems. This includes being able to interpret slip terms and conditions, identifying and capturing the exposures into a data format suitable for the systems.
  2. Reviewing the data presented in underwriting submissions and liaising with brokers and underwriters to obtain information required to analyse the risk
  3. Produce management information and analytical reports for the Specialty classes to enable underwriters to monitor and quantify their exposures, in order to manage their portfolios within risk appetite
  4. Supporting the Specialty lead and Portfolio Manager with risk appetite monitoring, annual review to align with business planning and the creation of alternative appetite monitoring methodologies as required.
  5. Answer queries and peer review data entry work from outsourced team
  6. Overall responsibility for the entry of data into the aggregation and modelling systems, improving performance and efficiency on a continuous basis
  7. Ensure all processes are fully documented and relevant governance documents are up to date
  8. Working closely with the other Specialty Analysts to ensure consistency across classes and to understand the Specialty team’s priorities and deadlines
  9. Working closely with underwriters on a daily basis to understand their priorities and manage their expectations accordingly
  10. Understand how the "Chaucer View of Risk" relates to the business written by the Specialty divisions and be able to explain this to stakeholders
  11. Along with the other Senior Analysts, supervise the day to day activities of the Analysts in the team, providing training and development of Analysts and Outsourcing Team
  12. Participate in the joint activities of the Exposure Management Team
  13. From time to time take part in relevant projects throughout the wider business
  14. Manage relationships with outsourcing partners and provide training where necessary
  15. Support in the production of modelling and data to support Outwards Reinsurance requirements

  1. Assist with the production of Exposure Management returns, both internally and to Lloyds and other external regulators
Skills and Competencies

Relevant experience

Essential

  1. Knowledge of Exposure Management
  2. Thorough understanding of (re)insurance concepts, slip terms and conditions

Desirable

  1. Experience of deterministic scenario reporting
  2. Experience using Sequel Impact
  3. Experience using Moody’s RiskLink
Technical skills

Essential

  1. Advanced use of Microsoft Excel
  2. Knowledge of other Microsoft Office products

Desirable

  1. SQL advantageous
  2. Knowledge of mapping solutions such as ArcGIs or EigenPrism
Personal Skills
  1. Excellent attention to detail
