Rate: £700 - £800 per day

Delta Capita is seeking a highly skilled Senior eTrading Developer to join our clients Global Markets Technology practice. This role will focus on developing and enhancing low-latency components within an electronic trading (eTrading) and eRisk platform used across global FX and electronic execution businesses.

The team designs and builds high-performance, distributed systems that manage liquidity, generate real-time prices, handle internal and external order execution, and support algorithmic trading strategies. These systems are business-critical and require exceptional reliability, scalability, and throughput.

This role will work as part of a global delivery team, contributing to next-generation initiatives aimed at improving pricing quality, reducing latency, enhancing algorithmic execution capabilities, and expanding eTrading functionality.

Job requirements

Key Responsibilities:

As a senior Java engineer, the successful candidate will:

  1. Work with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements before commencing design and development.
  2. Produce detailed technical designs aligned with broader architectural standards.
  3. Work effectively alongside external and internal technical teams as required.
  4. Develop high-quality, low-latency server-side Java components using industry-standard patterns.
  5. Apply continuous integration practices and automated testing (unit, integration).
  6. Conduct comprehensive testing prior to release into UAT.
  7. Assist with deployment processes across development and test environments.
  8. Participate in intraday and overnight support rotations when required.
  9. Contribute to the evolution of pricing, distribution, and algorithmic trading components.

Skills Required:

  1. Strong server-side Java experience, including demonstrable multithreaded development skills.
  2. Experience building highly available, distributed systems.
  3. Proven experience in tuning and developing low-latency applications.
  4. Hands-on experience with electronic trading, pricing engines, or algorithmic execution components (FX or similar asset classes).
  5. Knowledge of testing methodologies including TDD/BDD.
  6. Familiarity with enterprise messaging technologies (e.g., multicast, low-latency messaging platforms).
  7. Experience with FIX or similar trading protocols is advantageous.
  8. Familiarity with time-series databases (e.g., kdb+) is desirable.
  9. Experience with lock-free algorithms, advanced concurrency, and performance optimisation is preferred.

This is a contract role located in London. Expectations regarding hybrid working: As we are a Service Provider and Consulting firm servicing clients, our policy for physically working from the office (which may be the clients' offices or our own offices depending on the client) aligns to what our clients' policies and expectations are and these vary. Most of our clients now require a minimum of 3 days per week in the office, 2 days from home, and accordingly this is also the minimum expectation that Delta Capita require.
