Head of Compliance High Risk Trading Clients - #2134874
eFinancialCareers
This is a segment-specific Compliance / FCC role, not a generalist compliance function. You will be the dedicated compliance owner for our Forex/CFD broker and trading-platform client relationships and will be accountable for ensuring our onboarding, monitoring, and risk classification of this segment is defensible, proportionate, and regulator-ready across all entities we service them from.
This segment carries distinct regulatory characteristics — leveraged/CFD business models, cross-border client acquisition, FX flow structures, and licensing between group entities — and needs someone who has worked as an MLRO inside a broker or an EMI/PSP serving brokers, not someone learning the sector from the outside.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end compliance and financial crime risk management for the forex/CFD broker and trading-platform client book
- Design and maintain segment-specific onboarding, EDD, and risk-rating methodologies that reflect leveraged trading business models
- Own transaction monitoring scenario design and tuning specific to broker/FX flow patterns
- Act as a credible technical voice with the regulators relevant to your base location and the client relationships you own (e.g. FCA, CSSF, DFSA etc) on matters concerning this client segment
- Partner with the wider Group Compliance function to ensure segment practice aligns with group-wide AML/KYC policy and board-level reporting
- Support commercial and onboarding teams with pragmatic, risk-based guidance that balances growth with regulatory defensibility
- Escalate emerging risks (licensing mismatches, sanctions exposure, structural red flags) to the Group CRCO and Board as appropriate
- Be the point of escalation for AML concerns and help advise first line teams and MLRO’s on client activity, behaviour and risks.
What We're Looking For
You will have direct, hands-on experience in one or both of the following:
- Held an MLRO or Head of FCC role at a Forex/CFD broker or trading platform,or
- Worked within an EMI or PSP Financial Crime function with direct responsibility for this client segment
- Strong working knowledge of AML/CFT frameworks and how they apply to leveraged trading and FX flow structures
- Experience navigating multi-regulator environments (e.g. FCA, DFSA, CySEC, ASIC, SCA, CSSF)
- Comfort with hands-on licensing/regulatory scope analysis — able to identify where a client's stated permissions don't match its actual business model
- Strong stakeholder management skills; able to work at pace with commercial teams while holding a firm risk line
- Relevant certifications (ICA, CAMS, or equivalent) preferred
