Senior Delivery Manager

Location: London, Bristol or Manchester (Hybrid) Rate: £650 per day Contract Length: Until 02 April 2027 Clearance: Active SC Clearance or transferable lapsed SC required

About the Role

A major Government Department is seeking an experienced Senior Delivery Manager to join a high-profile digital programme. This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in delivering complex digital and cyber initiatives within a fast-paced and highly regulated environment.

You will be responsible for driving delivery across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring work remains on track, risks are managed effectively, and stakeholders remain engaged throughout the delivery lifecycle. The role requires an individual who can work autonomously, provide leadership, and continuously improve delivery practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of complex digital and cyber programmes.
  • Plan, manage and coordinate work across multidisciplinary delivery teams.
  • Drive agile delivery practices and maintain programme momentum in complex environments.
  • Build and manage relationships with senior stakeholders, including Director and SRO level contacts.
  • Identify, manage and mitigate risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Facilitate collaboration across product, user-centred design, technical, architecture and security teams.
  • Improve delivery frameworks, governance processes and ways of working.
  • Support government assurance activities and programme reporting requirements.
  • Ensure successful outcomes while adapting to changing priorities and requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience operating as a Delivery Manager or Senior Delivery Manager within complex environments.
  • Proven experience delivering digital transformation, technology or cyber programmes.
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and principles.
  • Experience working within the UK public sector or government organisations.
  • Knowledge of the GDS Service Manual and government delivery standards.
  • Demonstrable experience leading multidisciplinary agile teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong planning, organisational and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to confidently navigate ambiguity and work independently.
  • Experience engaging with senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
