Assistant Accountant - #2136136

A leading sports agency is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join its growing finance team. This role is 3 days per week in the office. This is a newly created role reporting into the Financial Controller in a team of 5.

The role

You'll work closely with the Financial Controller and Management Accountant across areas including:

• Supporting the month-end close, including journals, accruals and prepayments
• Daily bank postings and bank reconciliations
• Supporting cash management and monitoring the cash position
• Preparing and supporting quarterly VAT returns, alongside monthly VAT reviews
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Intercompany reconciliations
• Supporting overseas entity accounting and uploading trial balances into SAP
• Assisting with actual vs budget analysis
• Supporting European entity accounting and compliance
• Preparing schedules and reconciliations for the year-end audit
• Taking increasing ownership of areas of responsibility as your experience develops

We're looking for someone with around 1-2 years' finance experience:

You'll ideally have:

• AAT, bookkeeping and/or ACCA studies underway, or a desire to progress with a professional qualification
• A good practical understanding of VAT returns - essential
• Month-end experience, particularly journals, accruals and prepayments
• Experience with bank reconciliations
• Good Excel skills, including lookups, spreadsheets and ideally pivot tables
• Experience using an accounting system/ERP; SAP experience would be advantageous
• A proactive, hands-on approach and the confidence to work independently

Experience within football, sport, media, advertising, talent management or an agency environment would be particularly attractive.

You'll work as part of a small, collaborative finance team and gain exposure to a much broader range of accounting activities, rather than being limited to AP or transactional processing.
