Central Recruitment is working with a London-based charity dedicated to creating positive change for families and young people who have been impacted by violence, exploitation and trauma.

Our client is currently recruiting a Specialist Caseworker to work remotely and across London, supporting children and young people who have been exposed to, or are at risk of exploitation or violence, helping them to achieve safety and positive outcomes.

  • 32 hours (4 days) per week
  • Between Monday - Friday
  • Shifts: 09:00 – 17:00 (occasional work outside these hours)
  • Temporary: approx. 3 months
  • £19.14 per hour (£16.49 per hour, with £2.65 holiday pay)

Please note: This role is a hybrid role which requires you to work remotely and travel across London, meeting young people in the community or where they're based. An induction will be held at the Head Office and a laptop and phone provided.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver effective 1:1 support to young people, ensuring their voice is central
  • Carry out risk and strengths-based assessments, prioritising safeguarding and appropriate intervention
  • Maintain accurate case records using the organisation’s case management system
  • Produce professional reports for partners such as police, courts and children’s social care
  • Communicate effectively, both virtually and face-to-face
  • Identify safe locations for engagement and complete relevant risk assessments
  • Make referrals and signpost young people to services and positive activities, advocating where necessary
  • Work collaboratively with partners, communities and key stakeholders
  • Follow and uphold organisational safeguarding policies

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Experience managing complex safeguarding cases involving children, young people and families
  • Experience building trusting relationships with children and young people
  • Strong knowledge of contextual safeguarding and the impact of context on young people
  • Experience maintaining high-quality case records
  • Knowledge of best practice when supporting young people experiencing harm outside the home
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and its impact on practitioners and young people
  • Ability to manage personal wellbeing and resilience in emotionally demanding roles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing
  • Good IT skills (e.g. Excel, Outlook, Word) and experience using databases
  • A relevant qualification in social care, health, youth/community work, criminal justice, or equivalent experience

FURTHER REQUIREMENTS:

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Current valid right to work in the UK
  • Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
  • A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
  • Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
