Prospectus is delighted to be supporting our client in the search for a Welfare and Benefits Advice Worker.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced welfare adviser to join a community-focused organisation supporting individuals and families facing financial challenges. You will provide specialist welfare benefits advice, helping clients understand their entitlements, maximise their income, and access the support available to them. The role offers the chance to manage a varied caseload while making a tangible difference to people's lives through high-quality advice, advocacy, and casework.

Please note this role will be subject to an enhanced DBS check due to unsupervised contact with vulnerable adults.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialist welfare benefits advice and support to clients with a range of complex needs.
  • Manage benefit applications from initial assessment through to successful submission.
  • Support clients with mandatory reconsiderations and benefit appeals.
  • Carry out benefit checks and identify opportunities to maximise household income.
  • Maintain accurate case records, monitoring information, and client outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies to resolve complex welfare issues.
  • Deliver information sessions, workshops, and advice clinics where required.
  • Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and follow organisational procedures.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience providing welfare rights, benefits, housing, debt, or financial inclusion advice.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK welfare benefits system, including Universal Credit, PIP, Attendance Allowance, and Carer's Allowance.
  • Experience supporting clients through benefit applications, mandatory reconsiderations, and appeals processes.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex information clearly and sensitively.
  • Strong organisational skills with experience managing a varied caseload and competing priorities.
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals in a person-centred environment.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with statutory, community, and voluntary sector partners.

If you are passionate about helping people access the financial support they are entitled to and have the experience to navigate complex welfare cases, we would love to hear from you.
