Underwriting Assistant - #2138554

Specialist Insurance Company is seeking an analytical and ambitious Underwriting Assistant to join its technology-led underwriting team.

You will support the management and development of the company’s US Property and Natural Catastrophe product suite, working closely with the underwriting and analytics teams across risk selection, algorithmic pricing, portfolio performance and product development. The role will involve analysing quote volumes, hit rates and portfolio performance, leveraging claims and exposure data to improve pricing, working with third-party data providers and contributing to the ongoing development of new products and underwriting capabilities. You will also have the opportunity to support business development discussions and contribute directly to the profitability and growth of the portfolio.

Suitable candidates will have a degree in an analytical discipline such as mathematics, science, engineering or economics, together with strong mathematical, statistical and problem-solving skills. High-calibre graduates, or candidates with some experience in catastrophe modelling, actuarial, exposure management or a similar analytical role would be particularly relevant. SQL, programming and GIS skills would be advantageous, alongside excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in applying data and technology to insurance underwriting.
