Pensions Data Services Actuary (Associate Consultant/Consultant)
Location: Edinburgh or London - Hybrid Working
About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced pensions actuary or part-qualified actuary to join a growing Pensions Data Services team.
The role will involve supporting a range of strategic data and consulting projects, helping pension schemes better understand, manage and improve the quality of their data. You will work across a variety of projects, including data preparation, data cleansing, benefit rectification and supporting schemes with their wider de-risking and endgame strategies.
This is a client-facing role offering the opportunity to work on technically challenging and high-profile projects, collaborate with specialists across the business and contribute to the development of new approaches, tools and methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pension schemes with data preparation and readiness for a range of strategic and endgame activities.
- Undertake data analysis, cleansing and reconciliation projects to improve the quality and accuracy of scheme data.
- Support benefit rectification and data-driven projects, including reviewing complex historical scheme information.
- Analyse and review pension scheme data to identify key findings, risks and potential issues.
- Support clients with data-related risks and the development of appropriate data strategies.
- Prepare technical commentary, reports and presentations to clearly communicate findings and recommendations.
- Work closely with actuarial, administration, risk transfer and wider specialist teams.
- Contribute to the development of internal methodologies, tools and processes to improve project delivery.
- Manage multiple projects and competing priorities while ensuring work is delivered accurately and to agreed deadlines.
- Support and develop junior colleagues where appropriate.
Experience & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working within a pensions actuarial consultancy or a similar pensions environment.
- A strong understanding of Defined Benefit pensions and pensions data.
- Actuarial qualifications, or progress towards actuarial qualifications.
- Experience working on pensions data, analysis or related technical projects.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data and identify key insights.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to clients and colleagues.
- Experience working collaboratively across different teams and disciplines.
- A proactive approach to identifying risks, solving problems and improving processes.
The successful candidate will be commercially aware, client-focused and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. They will be a strong team player with the ability to build effective relationships, think strategically and contribute to the continued development of the wider team.
