About the Role

The Structured Finance and Alternate Investment Funds practice evaluates the credit risk of securitized products and fund structures by analyzing underlying asset performance, structural protections, cash-flow mechanics, and downside stress scenarios. Analysts produce opinions that help issuers and investors compare complex instruments, bringing market-relevant perspectives on performance trends, issuance conditions, and AI's role in origination and securitization. The team is part of S&P Global Ratings' global analyst community of more than 1,400 analysts across key financial hubs worldwide, dedicated to delivering high-quality insights and exceptional client service across all industry sectors.

Responsibilities at the Rating Analyst Level

Team Contribution & Capability Building
  • Promote consistent, standards-led approaches to build trusted, repeatable insights, and propose continuous improvements that remove manual steps without compromising governance or analytical judgment.
Core Analytical & Delivery
  • Execute end-to-end credit analysis and surveillance for assigned structured finance credits, synthesizing portfolio performance, market signals, and peer context into decision-useful insights with clear implications for risk.
  • Prepare and review analytical inputs and key outputs, reconciling metrics and documenting assumptions to ensure adherence to methodology, sector frameworks, and evidentiary standards.
Stakeholder & Market Engagement
  • Engage with external stakeholders alongside senior team members, translating complex data and analysis into clear, client-ready narratives and communicating S&P Global's analytical expertise to drive engagement with market participants.
Risk Management and Operating
  • Ensure adherence to methodology, confidentiality, and data governance requirements, escalating issues early with recommendations; embed responsible AI use - approved tools and data only - to protect analytical integrity
What We're Looking for a Rating Analyst

Required Skills and Experience
  • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 1+ years of relevant experience in structured finance, credit analysis, or a related financial field.
  • Demonstrated credit, financial, and risk analysis skills, with the ability to link fundamental drivers to forward-looking views and risk appetite.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex analysis into clear, structured narratives that support informed decision-making.
  • Willingness to learn and apply AI tools, large language models, and automation technologies to improve analytical productivity and insight.
  • High standards for analytical quality, traceability, and governance, with sound judgment on the responsible use of AI in a controlled environment.
  • English: Required - Fluent (able to conduct meetings, collaborate effectively, and communicate clearly in writing and verbally).
Preferred or Helpful Experience
  • Experience analyzing ABS, RMBS, or corporate securitizations, with an emerging ability to support and advise junior colleagues in operational processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to scalable automation and agentic workflows.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence through credibility and support team consistency through shared standards and tools.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. A master's degree or professional certification (such as CFA) is highly valued. We welcome candidates from traditional finance disciplines as well as diverse academic backgrounds that support innovative and critical thinking.
