Penguin Recruitment
Town Planner

Location: London
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Working: Hybrid

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Town Planner to join a growing and highly regarded planning and development consultancy with an established presence in London.

The consultancy is passionate about the built environment and focuses on delivering high-quality, design-led development that creates better places and delivers value for its clients. The team works across a broad range of sectors, including residential, build-to-rent, co-living, student accommodation, commercial, industrial, logistics, strategic land and public-sector projects.

The Role

We are looking for an ambitious Town Planner to join the London team and play an important role in delivering a varied portfolio of development projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planner looking to broaden their experience and work closely with experienced planning and development professionals. You will be involved across the planning process, from early-stage site appraisals and strategy through to planning applications, negotiations and delivery.

The consultancy works closely with landowners, developers, local authorities, consultants and other property professionals, giving you the opportunity to develop strong commercial and client-facing skills.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working within town planning, ideally within a consultancy or developer environment.
  • A good understanding of the UK planning system and development management.
  • Experience assisting with or managing planning applications and planning strategies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good commercial awareness and an interest in the property and development sector.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, consultants and local authorities.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • A proactive approach with a genuine passion for the built environment.
  • MRTPI or working towards chartership would be advantageous.

What's on Offer?

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • Hybrid working from a London-based office.
  • Opportunity to join a growing and ambitious planning and development consultancy.
  • Exposure to a diverse range of high-quality development and regeneration projects.
  • Experience across residential, commercial, strategic land and other sectors.
  • Excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development.
  • A collaborative, entrepreneurial and people-focused working environment.
  • The chance to work alongside experienced planning and development professionals on projects from inception through to completion.

The consultancy has a strong focus on placemaking, design and delivering sustainable growth, with a team that works collaboratively with clients and consultant teams to deliver projects across the UK.

If you're a Town Planner looking for your next opportunity in London and want to work for a forward-thinking consultancy with an exciting project portfolio, this could be an excellent next step in your career.
