Senior Quantity Surveyor – Tier 1 Main Contractor – Healthcare – Central London

Salary/Package: £85,000 – £100,000 + 33 days annual leave, Private Medical, Pension, Discretionary Bonus, WFH options

O’Neill and Brennan are currently working with a leading Tier 1 main contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to act as the Project Commercial Lead on a major healthcare scheme in Central London.

The successful candidate will take overall commercial responsibility for the project, working closely with the Project Director, wider project team, client and supply chain to ensure the successful commercial delivery of the scheme.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established Tier 1 contractor with a strong pipeline of work and an excellent reputation for delivering complex projects across the UK. The ideal candidate will have a strong main contracting background and be able to demonstrate consistent tenure and progression throughout their career. Previous experience working on public sector schemes would be highly advantageous, while exposure to refurbishment, cut and carve or similarly complex environments would be desirable but is not essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Taking overall commercial responsibility for the project, acting as the Project Commercial Lead
  • Managing the commercial delivery of the project from procurement through to final account
  • Leading the procurement and commercial management of subcontract packages
  • Preparing and managing subcontract enquiries, tender analysis, negotiations and recommendations for award
  • Managing subcontractor payments, valuations, variations, change control and final accounts
  • Monitoring project costs, forecasting expenditure and maintaining accurate commercial reporting
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and implementing appropriate cost control measures
  • Working closely with the Project Director, project management, construction and design teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Managing and maintaining strong relationships with the client, consultants and supply chain
  • Providing commercial leadership and guidance to the wider project and commercial teams

Requirements:

  • Strong experience working as a Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor within a Tier 1 or leading main contracting environment
  • Proven experience taking commercial responsibility for major projects
  • Public sector experience would be highly advantageous, particularly within healthcare or similar environments
  • Exposure to refurbishment, cut and carve or complex live-environment projects would be desirable but is not essential
  • Strong knowledge of main contracting procurement, subcontract management, cost control and commercial reporting
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Demonstrable consistency and strong tenure throughout previous positions
  • Ability to lead commercially while working effectively with the wider project team
  • Ambition to progress and develop within a leading Tier 1 contractor
