Geophysicist

London | £35,000 - £45,000

A specialist site investigation consultancy is looking to add a Geophysicist to its London team.

This is a great opportunity for a geophysicist with 3-5 years' experience who is looking for a varied role combining site work, data processing, interpretation and reporting.

You'll be working on a range of ground investigation projects across London and the wider UK, alongside experienced geophysicists, geologists and engineers.

The Role

The role will involve a mixture of office and site-based work, with the opportunity to take ownership of projects and develop your experience across a range of geophysical techniques.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and carrying out geophysical surveys
  • Setting up and operating geophysical equipment
  • Collecting and quality checking field data
  • Processing and interpreting geophysical data
  • Producing technical reports, figures and drawings
  • Providing geophysical input into wider ground investigations
  • Liaising with clients, contractors and other consultants
  • Supporting project planning and preparation
  • Working alongside geotechnical and geoenvironmental teams
  • Travelling to sites across London and occasionally elsewhere in the UK

The projects are varied and will give you exposure to different ground conditions and challenging urban environments, with plenty of opportunity to broaden your technical experience.

About You

We're looking for someone with a degree in Geophysics, Geology, Earth Sciences or a related subject, with around 3-5 years' relevant experience.

You'll ideally have:

  • Commercial experience in geophysics or site investigation
  • Practical experience carrying out geophysical surveys
  • Good knowledge of geophysical data processing and interpretation
  • Experience producing technical reports
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • A practical approach and willingness to work on site
  • A full UK driving licence
The Company

You'll be joining a specialist site investigation consultancy working across geotechnical, environmental and structural investigations.

The business works on a varied portfolio of projects, including buildings, infrastructure, basements, tunnels and other technically challenging sites. It's a hands-on environment where you'll work closely with experienced specialists and have the opportunity to develop your technical skills and take on more responsibility.

What's on Offer?
  • £35,000 - £45,000 salary, depending on experience
  • Varied and technically interesting projects
  • Combination of site and office-based work
  • Strong technical development
  • Career progression opportunities
  • Support with professional development
  • Specialist and experienced team
  • London-based role with UK-wide project work
