About the Role

The purpose of the position of Fire Damper Tester is to carry out fire damper inspections/testing.

What we need

• Proven experience carrying out fire damper inspections/testing.
• Good understanding of relevant fire damper standards, manufacturer requirements and industry guidance.
• Able to identify installation defects, not simply perform a drop test.
• Understands the relationship between the damper, supporting construction and surrounding fire compartment.
• Able to recognise issues such as incorrect installation, damaged/modified dampers, access problems, missing/incorrect fire stopping and unsuitable fixings.
• Competent using testing/reporting systems and producing good-quality photographic evidence.
• Able to write clear, accurate engineer comments that a client can understand.
• Comfortable working in hospitals, commercial buildings, universities and other occupied environments.
• Good customer-facing skills — professional, presentable and able to communicate with site contacts.
• Able to work independently and manage their own workload.
• Willing to travel nationally and work occasional nights/weekends where projects require it.
• Strong preference: someone who can also undertake basic remedial works.
• Driving licence essential.
• To be able to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
• To assist other members of the team when needed. 
• To be part of the on-call rota.
• Be able to converse with customers in a professional manner.
