Head of Risk & Compliance
This prestigious US law firm housed in stylish new offices near Liverpool Street is seeking a new Head of Risk & Compliance to support the UK and European compliance function. This high-profile role with oversee regulatory compliance, risk management, policy development, training and engagement with regulators, ensuring the firm maintains the highest standards of governance and compliance.

Head of Risk & Compliance – What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead the day-to-day management of the firm's UK and European risk and compliance function, supporting the COLP, COFA, MLRO and DPO
- Develop, implement and continually enhance the firm's compliance policies, procedures, systems and risk management framework
- Act as the primary liaison with regulators, managing investigations, information requests, data protection matters and other regulatory enquiries
- Monitor regulatory developments, provide expert compliance advice, and ensure the firm remains aligned with legal and regulatory requirements
- Conduct compliance audits and risk assessments, identifying areas for improvement and driving best practice across the firm
- Design and deliver training to attorneys and business services staff, fostering a strong culture of compliance
- Oversee the investigation and reporting of compliance breaches and client complaints, ensuring appropriate regulatory reporting where required
- Advise on key compliance areas including AML, GDPR, SRA Standards & Regulations, conflicts, anti-bribery and client due diligence
- Benchmark the firm's compliance framework against market best practice and maintain key compliance documentation, including the London office engagement letter
Head of Risk & Compliance – What We’re Looking For:
- Extensive experience in a similar / compliance role within a law firm is essential
- Good knowledge of SRA Standards and Regulations, AML rules and procedures, data protection legislation, KYC processes
- Judgement to balance commercial and compliance risks to achieve positive outcomes
- Ability to deal with confidential matters with discretion and tact
- Good IT skills and computer literacy are essential
