DevOps / Process Change – Software Architect - #2149745

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced DevOps / Process Change Software Architect to work directly with digital product engineering delivery teams.

The role focuses on assessing existing DevOps and software delivery processes, identifying process debt and implementing practical improvements that enable teams to gain greater value from AI-assisted software development and delivery.

This is not simply a pipeline-building role. The successful candidate must be able to understand existing engineering processes, work closely with delivery teams, identify friction and implement sustainable process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Embed with delivery teams to assess existing DevOps and SDLC practices.
• Review CI/CD pipelines, branching strategies, release processes and environments.
• Assess testing, code review and deployment processes.
• Identify process debt that impacts engineering productivity.
• Identify bottlenecks such as slow CI feedback, manual approvals and inconsistent environments.
• Work collaboratively with teams to implement practical, incremental improvements.
• Improve software delivery processes without relying on large-scale or disruptive process changes.
• Advise teams on structuring engineering processes for AI-assisted development.
• Help teams understand how process improvements can enable AI coding assistants and agentic workflows.
• Engage with technical stakeholders and delivery teams to build trust and drive adoption.
• Support continuous improvement across DevOps and software engineering practices.

Required Skills

• Strong DevOps and SDLC background.
• Strong experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with branching strategies and release management.
• Experience with environment management.
• Proven experience assessing and improving existing engineering processes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and delivery-team collaboration skills.
• Experience identifying and addressing process debt.
• Understanding of AI-ready DevOps and AI-assisted software delivery.
• Experience with GitLab, JIRA, Confluence or equivalent enterprise tooling.
• Ability to improve processes incrementally rather than simply implementing new tools.
• Strong understanding of modern software engineering and delivery practices.

Eligibility

• UK-based and able to work remotely.
• Ability to attend the London office when required.
