Income Officer - #2150793

Marks Consulting Partners are currently recruiting for an Income Officer to work with one of our Housing clients in London.

This is a temporary role paying £30 per hour, ideal for someone with strong rent collection and arrears management experience who can work directly with residents, provide practical advice and confidently progress cases through to court where necessary. Housing Officers with significant rent arrears responsibility will also be considered.

What you will be doing:

• Managing rent accounts and proactively recovering current and former tenant arrears
• Contacting residents early to prevent arrears escalating and agreeing repayment arrangements
• Completing income and expenditure assessments and advising on welfare benefits, Universal Credit and Discretionary Housing Payments
• Progressing arrears cases through the legal recovery process, preparing court paperwork and attending court where necessary
• Managing Notices of Seeking Possession and other enforcement action
• Working closely with Housing, Finance, Benefits and external support agencies on complex cases
• Managing your own caseload independently from initial arrears through to resolution

What you will need:

• Strong experience of rent collection and arrears recovery within social housing
• Previous experience as an Income Officer, Rent Officer, Housing Officer or similar
• Good knowledge of the legal process around rent arrears, possession proceedings and tenancy enforcement, plus welfare benefits and Universal Credit
• Confident negotiation and communication skills, including difficult conversations around debt
• Ability to manage a busy caseload independently, with a customer focused but firm approach
