Audit Manager - #2151731

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established UK professional services firm, currently hiring an Audit Manager to run a Consumer-sector client portfolio out of their London office.

This is a firm that's been quietly moving up the rankings among the UK's larger accountancy firms, backed by consistent double-digit revenue growth in recent years. It's also part of a much larger international network, giving Managers here access to cross-border work and resources that a purely domestic firm simply can't offer.

You'll plan and control the work across your client base, holding pre-audit meetings, briefing your team on approach, and reviewing their output before anything goes near a Partner. You'll keep an eye on WIP across every job, flag problems before they become write-offs, and handle fee schedules and billing with a clear view of what each job is actually worth.

On the people side, you'll be responsible for developing your team properly: varied work allocation, appraisals, and the everyday management that keeps a team functioning. You'll also be expected to bring in specialists from other parts of the business, such as tax, corporate finance or financial services, when a client needs them, and to help win new work through networking, referrals and the odd tender.

• ACA or ACCA qualified, with several years' post-qualification experience in external audit, accounts and general practice
• Comfortable working with owner-managed businesses across a mix of industries
• Strong working knowledge of corporate tax and company secretarial matters
• A track record of managing and developing junior staff
• Commercially switched on, with an eye for opportunities within your own portfolio
• Good working knowledge of Excel and Word; Sage, CaseWare or tax software experience is useful but not essential
