Reeson Education is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant for primary schools across Waltham Forest. This SEN Teaching Assistant opportunity suits someone with school, SEND or strong transferable experience who can help pupils access learning while developing confidence and independence.

SEN Teaching Assistant Role

• Location: Waltham Forest, including Walthamstow, Leyton, Leytonstone, Chingford and Highams Park
• Pay: £85.50-£110 per day
• Start: Immediate
• Setting: Mainstream primary schools
• Contract: Flexible and long-term opportunities

Responsibilities

• As a SEN Teaching Assistant, provide focused 1:1 and small-group support.
• The SEN Teaching Assistant will reinforce differentiated activities prepared by the class teacher.
• Support communication, interaction and emotional regulation using agreed strategies.
• Help pupils work towards EHCP targets and individual outcomes where relevant.
• The SEN Teaching Assistant will encourage independence and positive classroom participation.
• Share useful observations with teachers and SENCOs.

What We're Looking For in a SEN Teaching Assistant

• Previous SEN Teaching Assistant, school support or SEND experience, or credible transferable experience from childcare, youth work, mentoring, tutoring, care or behaviour support.
• Confidence building positive professional relationships with pupils who need additional support.
• Patience, reliability and clear communication.
• Strong safeguarding awareness and willingness to follow individual support plans.
