A well-established international logistics business is seeking an experienced Senior Import/Export Operations Clerk to join its growing operations team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a freight forwarding professional who can confidently manage complex shipments, support junior team members and ensure the smooth delivery of import and export operations across multiple modes of transport.

The Role

As a Senior Import/Export Operations Clerk, you'll take ownership of shipments from booking through to delivery, maintaining high service levels whilst ensuring compliance with all customs and documentation requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing import and export shipments via air, sea and road freight
• Preparing, checking and processing customs and shipping documentation
• Liaising with customers, hauliers, shipping lines, airlines and overseas agents
• Monitoring shipment progress and proactively resolving issues
• Ensuring compliance with customs regulations and company procedures
• Providing operational support and guidance to junior team members
• Maintaining accurate job costing and operational records
• Building strong customer relationships and delivering exceptional service
• Identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and service delivery

About You

We're keen to speak with candidates who have:

• Previous experience within freight forwarding or import/export operations
• Strong knowledge of customs procedures and international shipping documentation
• Experience handling multimodal freight movements
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
• The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills
• Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced team members would be advantageous
