Junior Banking Lawyer (Global Commercial Bank) - #2153350

We have exclusively partnered with a global commercial bank seeking a junior banking lawyer to join its highly regarded and growing legal team. This is an exceptional opportunity to develop your banking and finance expertise, working alongside experienced professionals on diverse lending and finance transactions, with ongoing training, exposure to complex deals, and opportunities across both transactional and advisory work.

What you'll do:

• Provide legal advice and manage risk for all lending and finance transactions across the branch, focusing primarily on corporate banking and financial institutions teams.
• Work closely with business teams on transaction portfolios by advising on a wide variety of transactional legal matters, identifying legal and regulatory risks or issues in transactions, proposing solutions or mitigants to identified concerns, assisting in negotiations, coordinating documentation reviews including legal opinions and conditions precedent under appropriate supervision.
• Draft term sheets, facility agreements, trade finance documentation, secondary trading documentation and related amendments based on internal precedents; negotiate and manage bilateral transactions; prepare and update templates as required.
• Review new product approval requests from a legal perspective, providing input to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
• Advise upon and review commercial contracts as well as property and facilities management-related leases and agreements within the wider remit of the Legal team.
• Conduct legal research on regulatory developments; prepare internal notes; arrange training sessions for internal stakeholders by engaging with law firms and industry bodies.
• Take responsibility for day-to-day identification, ownership and management of conduct risk through implementation of the bank's risk framework processes including compliance, conduct risk controls, financial crime risk frameworks; identify inadequate processes or control breaks for escalation or remediation.

What you'll need to be successful?

• Qualified practising solicitor (or equivalent) with proven experience in general lending within financial services gained at either a UK or international law firm.
• Some knowledge or experience of project finance or trade finance is advantageous but not essential for this position.
• Familiarity with ISDA documentation would be welcomed though not required; understanding LMA standard documentation is important.
• In-depth knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework surrounding bank lending in the UK is crucial for success in this role.
• Ability to work independently with appropriate supervision while leading or managing transactions alongside external counsel when necessary.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are required to manage competing demands effectively within a busy team environment.
• Experience prioritising tasks under pressure is essential given the fast-moving nature of banking transactions.
• Some prior in-house experience within financial services is desirable but not mandatory.
• Ability to work unsupervised when needed along with willingness to put in extra hours during peak periods demonstrates commitment.
• Strong interpersonal skills are vital for collaborating with colleagues across departments as well as external stakeholders.
