My client is one of the largest financial institutions headquartered in Japan, with an established presence across all consumer and corporate banking businesses. Through its subsidiaries and affiliates, they offer a diverse range of financial services, including commercial banking, leasing, securities, credit card, consumer finance and other services.

They are looking for a Lead Crisis & Business Continuity Manager to join the team on an initial 5 months contract, working Monday to Friday, standard office hours with the occasional out of hours requirement in line with business needs, The position is being offered on a hybrid working basis being office based 3 days a week, 2 days working from home.

Purpose of Job

You will lead the organisation's enterprise-wide Crisis Management and Business Continuity capabilities, ensuring effective preparation for, response to, and recovery from operational, technology, cyber, regulatory, geopolitical and reputational events.

Acting as the senior authority for Crisis Management and Business Continuity, you will provide strategic guidance to senior leadership, drive resilience initiatives, support regulatory engagement and help protect critical services, customers, employees and the organisation's reputation.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

• Lead and continuously enhance the Crisis Management and Business Continuity frameworks across EMEA.
• Chair and direct Silver and Gold Command structures during major incidents and crisis events.
• Act as the escalation point for major incidents where Business Continuity processes are invoked.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams through crisis situations, ensuring effective coordination, communication and decision-making.
• Provide 24/7 on-call support for Incident and Crisis Management activities and support out-of-hours disaster recovery testing when required.
• Drive alignment between Crisis Management, Major Incident Management, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery and Operational Resilience programmes.
• Manage regulatory incident classification, materiality assessments and reporting activities in line with DORA, FCA, PRA, ECB and related requirements.
• Oversee crisis communications, escalation procedures and stakeholder engagement.
• Conduct post-incident reviews and drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and remediation activities.
• Design and facilitate crisis simulations, testing programmes and executive exercises.
• Deliver resilience reporting and briefings to executive leadership, governance committees and board-level stakeholders.
• Establish programme metrics and perform maturity assessments across Crisis Management and Business Continuity capabilities.
• Represent the organisation on industry forums including the UK Finance Business & Operational Continuity Committee (BOCC).
• Oversee Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and resilience assessment activities.
• Partner with Technology teams to align Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery strategies.
• Provide expert advice to business leaders on continuity planning, resilience and recovery capabilities.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential

• Significant experience within Crisis Management, Business Continuity, Operational Resilience or related disciplines.
• Experience working within complex, global and regulated financial services environments.
• Experience presenting to Boards, Executive Committees, Risk Committees and Regulators.
• Proven track record leading major incidents, cyber events, technology outages and operational disruptions.
• Experience establishing and leading Crisis Management Teams and Incident Command structures.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage effectively across business and technology functions.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure, make decisions and prioritise effectively during critical incidents.
• Demonstrable commitment to continuous improvement and resilience best practice.
• CBCI certification.
• ITIL Foundation certification.

Desirable

• Experience within Corporate Real Estate, Physical Security or Travel Risk.
• Experience with ServiceNow.
• Experience with Fusion Risk Management.
• Knowledge of incident monitoring tools.
