Senior Medical Secretary - Private GP Practice - Central London - 13 month maternity cover - £42k to £45k
A well-established private GP practice based in the Chelsea area of London, is looking for an experienced Senior Medical Secretary to join the professional, friendly, and established team on a 13-month fixed-term maternity cover contract. This post will be supporting 2 senior GPs, as well as playing an important role in the smooth day-to-day running of the practice and coordination of patient care.
You will be highly organised, proactive and confident working independently in a busy private healthcare environment. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and a strong understanding of patient confidentiality are essential, as well as being able to present a professional and empathetic service to the patients, some of which are HNWIs.
SALARY ETC:
- £42k to £45k + Benefits
- Central London, Chelsea area.
- Starting on 1st December, neg, for a 13 month maternity cover contract.
- Full-time, Monday-Friday, approximately 8:30am-6:00pm, office based.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 years' + private sector medical secretarial experience, ideally within private healthcare in London.
- Experience within private general practice would be particularly advantageous
- A good working knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence dealing directly with private patients, consultants, hospitals and insurance companies
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Experience using a private healthcare patient-management system such as Semble experience would be highly desirable
- A stable employment history, ideally demonstrating at least two continuous years within previous roles
- AMSPAR or Pitman qualifications are desirable but not essential
- Must be smart in appearance, with a professional and customer/patient orientated approach.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE:
- Extensive diary and appointment management
- Managing patient enquiries by telephone and email
- Maintaining accurate patient records in accordance with GDPR
- Managing doctors' inboxes and ensuring patient queries are dealt with promptly
- Processing repeat prescriptions
- Arranging hospital admissions, investigations and diagnostic tests
- Chasing outstanding pathology results, diagnostic reports and consultant letters
- Processing patient recalls and follow-up requirements
- Reviewing incoming clinical correspondence and updating patient records on Semble
- Preparing and coordinating referrals, medical reports, insurance forms and certificates
- Processing referral letters, clinical notes and outgoing patient correspondence
- Invoicing patients following consultations and ensuring payment is collected
- Processing card payments and insurance-company payments
- Chasing outstanding patient debt
- Correcting and updating invoices where required
- Completing end-of-day transaction checks
- Supporting vaccine and medication stock ordering
- Providing cover for other members of the secretarial team during periods of leave or sickness
- Supporting the doctors and wider practice team with additional administrative duties as required
