NQ IP Litigator – London

Our client is an ambitious and growing firm investing significantly in the expansion of its contentious practice. The team has developed a strong position in complex patent disputes, particularly across the life sciences sector and is increasingly active in both UK and European proceedings. With continued demand from a diverse international client base, the firm is looking to add a Junior Litigator to its expanding team.

The role would suit a UK Solicitor, Barrister or suitably qualified European Lawyer at NQ to 3 years PQE. You will be involved directly in live contentious matters from an early stage, with exposure to high value patent disputes before the UK courts and UPC. Although the core focus will be life sciences and pharmaceutical litigation, there will also be opportunities to gain experience across technology disputes, trade marks and trade secrets. The position offers considerable client exposure and the opportunity to develop within a specialist team working at the forefront of the evolving European patent litigation landscape.

Responsibilities

• Assist with complex patent litigation before the UK courts and UPC
• Support matters throughout the dispute lifecycle, from initial strategy through to hearings and resolution
• Undertake legal and technical research across a range of contentious IP issues
• Assist with the preparation of pleadings, submissions, evidence and other litigation documentation
• Work alongside senior lawyers on matters involving pharmaceutical, biotech and other technically complex subject matter
• Contribute to client advice on contentious IP issues and enforcement strategies
• Assist with trade mark, trade secret and technology related disputes where required
• Participate in client meetings, calls and presentations
• Support the preparation of pitches and business development materials
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across legal and technical teams
• Develop relationships with clients and other key stakeholders
• Keep up to date with developments in UK and European IP litigation and the evolving UPC landscape

Requirements

• UK Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or suitably qualified European Lawyer
• NQ to 3 years PQE, or equivalent experience
• Strong academic background
• Genuine interest in intellectual property litigation
• Ideally a degree or technical background in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology or a related discipline
• Previous exposure to patent litigation would be advantageous
• Excellent legal research, drafting and analytical skills
• Ability to understand and work with technically complex subject matter
• Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines
• Commercial awareness and a client focused approach
• Confident communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
• Enthusiastic, curious and willing to develop within a growing specialist practice
