Role Summary

Section 2- Purpose of Job

Role of a Business / Domain Data Architect

The Business/Domain Data Architect plays a crucial role in leading Data Architecture deliverables for a Business (Risk, Finance, Transaction, Compliance etc) or a Domain (MDM, AI, Analytics etc). The deliverables include Current & Target state definitions, Data Cataloguing, Contributing to Policies/Standards/Procedures, Ensuring projects are aligned with data architecture policies, Data Solutions and Architecture Governance etc. This role is essential for enabling the end-to-end data management lifecycle for the Business area / domain.

It supports the development of foundational capabilities for the bank, which in turn underpin strategic programs such as the Data Platform, the Client Lifecycle Program, ECB, BCBS 239, etc., in EMEA. Additionally, the role involves active collaboration with global architects from other regions to contribute to and align with the architecture vision, policies, and standards.

Position Description

Section 5- Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Business Area / Domain: Implement data policy standards, policies, and guidelines to ensure data deliveries and architecture artifacts maintain integrity, quality, and consistency across the Business area / domain. Ensure Alignment to Data Governance Frameworks and IT initiatives in the area
  • Data Modelling: Oversee Business area / domain data modelling and its global alignment.
  • Architecture Governance: Facilitate communication and collaboration for the adoption and maintenance of data policies and frameworks. Drive the management and adoption of data policies and frameworks in Business area / Domain in EMEA and globally. Drive data architecture decisions on Data Solutions/ Products
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with IT teams and business stakeholders to gain alignment on data policies and standards. Contribute to data architecture discussions and lead decision-making in this area.
  • Industry and Technology Trends: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data architecture and management. Use this knowledge to build future-focused data architecture capability roadmaps

Section 6- Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential:
  • 15+ years' experience working in financial services organisations and dealing with business capabilities / processes across multiple products like Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Derivatives, Lending, etc.
  • Business knowledge / SME in one or more Banking functions: Customer, Transaction, Risk, Finance, Regulatory, Compliance, etc.
  • This includes experience of working in financial services organisations and dealt with business capabilities / processes across both Banking and Trading products like Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Derivatives, Lending, Deposits, etc.
  • Good understanding of the trade life cycle, its actors / roles and responsibilities and how data is managed through the same.
  • Good knowledge on regulatory reporting requirements related to ECB/EBA. E.g. FRTB, ILAAP, FINREP, MIFID, CCAR, etc.
  • Knowledge of and experience in implementing BCBS239 in a mid/large financial organisation
  • "Current-state" / "Target-state" assessment and documentation
  • Ability to create data flows across domains (target states, transition states, etc.)
  • Represent data architecture in various forums
  • Competence in reviewing data architecture artifacts and making decisions based on policies and standards
  • Understanding of current data methodologies (e.g., Lake, Mesh, Fabric, Hybrid, Agentic)

Desirable:
  • Data modelling experience/ Knowledge
  • Experience evaluating and recommending data tools
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, Snowflake, or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with Collibra, Enterprise Architecture Tooling. E.g. Lean IX, Ardoq, etc
