Are you an experienced Java Developer looking for the opportunity to work on a variety of business-critical applications and digital transformation initiatives?

At Reed in Partnership, technology plays a central role in supporting our services and driving continuous improvement across the organisation. We're looking for a talented Java Developer to join our Business Systems team and help design, build and enhance robust software solutions that support colleagues, customers and publicly funded programmes across the UK.

Working closely with technical and business stakeholders, you'll be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design through to development, testing, deployment and ongoing improvement. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to multiple projects and new system implementations while helping shape the future of our technology landscape.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Designing, developing and maintaining scalable applications and services using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Building robust REST APIs and microservices that integrate with internal and third-party systems.
  • Analysing business requirements and translating them into high-quality technical solutions.
  • Supporting the enhancement, optimisation and continuous improvement of existing systems and applications.
  • Writing clean, well-documented and maintainable code in line with development best practices.
  • Conducting unit testing, code reviews and contributing to quality assurance activities.
  • Collaborating closely with Business Analysts, Project Managers, QA teams and fellow developers throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Ensuring solutions meet security, performance and reliability standards.
  • Identifying technical challenges and proposing innovative and practical solutions.
  • Sharing knowledge, lessons learned and best practices across the development team.
  • Supporting deployments and project releases, including occasional out-of-hours implementation activities where required.
  • Taking ownership of assigned work and providing regular progress updates to stakeholders.
