Your Company:
An established and reputable hospitality and entertainment business is looking to appoint a Bar Manager to join its team in Central London. The organisation operates a well-established and highly regarded entertainment venue in the heart of Central London, set within one of the capital’s most historic and characterful areas. The venue welcomes a diverse customer base and delivers a high-quality experience across hospitality, entertainment and events.
With a strong reputation and an established presence within the sector, the business continues to develop and offers an exciting opportunity to join a distinctive London venue with genuine character and a loyal customer base.

The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining high standards across the bar, leading and developing the team, managing stock and costs, and ensuring customers receive an excellent experience. This is a hands-on management position suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and leading from the front.

Your Role and Responsibilities:
While in this position your duties may include but may not be limited to:
  • Taking responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the bar, ensuring consistently high standards of service, presentation and customer experience.
  • Leading, motivating and supporting the bar team, creating a positive and professional working environment.
  • Being hands-on during busy service periods, providing direction and support to the team and ensuring the smooth running of the bar.
  • Planning and managing staff rotas to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained during busy periods, events and peak trading times.
  • Supporting the recruitment, onboarding and ongoing development of bar team members.
  • Providing regular coaching, training and performance feedback to help individuals develop their skills and confidence.
  • Ensuring drinks are prepared and served to a consistently high standard, with a strong focus on quality, presentation and speed of service.
  • Managing stock levels, placing orders and ensuring the bar is appropriately stocked at all times.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with suppliers while monitoring pricing, deliveries and product availability.
  • Monitoring stock usage, wastage and costs, taking appropriate action to support strong commercial performance.
  • Working towards sales and financial targets and identifying opportunities to improve revenue and profitability.
  • Supporting the wider management team with financial performance, cost control and operational reporting.
  • Ensuring the bar remains clean, organised, well presented and safe throughout every shift.
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene, health and safety and ensuring all relevant procedures are followed.
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing requirements, including responsible service of alcohol and appropriate age-verification procedures.
  • Handling customer feedback, complaints and service issues professionally, resolving matters wherever possible and escalating when required.
  • Building positive relationships with regular customers and supporting the development of a loyal customer base.
  • Working closely with the General Manager and wider management team to support events, private bookings, busy trading periods and wider venue objectives.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the bar operation, service standards and overall customer experience.
  • Supporting the wider venue team with additional operational responsibilities as required.
What You Will Need to Apply:
  • Previous experience in a Bar Manager, Assistant Bar Manager, Supervisor or similar hospitality management position.
  • Experience working within a busy hospitality, leisure, entertainment or customer-facing environment.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a team in a fast-paced service environment.
  • Strong understanding of bar operations, service standards and customer experience.
  • Experience managing rotas, staffing levels and team performance.
  • Good understanding of stock control, ordering, wastage and cost management.
  • Commercially aware, with an understanding of sales targets, margins and the factors that contribute to a successful bar operation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to deal professionally with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
  • A positive and approachable management style, with the ability to lead by example during busy periods.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Good understanding of licensing, responsible alcohol service, age verification, health and safety and general compliance requirements.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving, with the confidence to take ownership and make decisions when required.
  • Comfortable working evenings, weekends and during particularly busy periods as required by the venue.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality, service and delivering an excellent customer experience.
What You Will Get in Return:
The successful Bar Manager will join an established and growing hospitality and entertainment business, taking a key role in the day-to-day operation of a busy Central London venue. You will have the opportunity to lead and develop a team while having genuine responsibility for service standards, stock, costs, customer experience and the overall performance of the bar.
This role offers a salary of up to £40,000 and is a hands-on management position where you will have the opportunity to make a visible impact on the operation rather than simply overseeing from the sidelines. You will work closely with the General Manager and wider management team, gaining exposure to busy trading periods, events, private bookings and the wider commercial operation of the venue.
The organisation also places a strong emphasis on its people, with opportunities for training, development and progression as the business continues to grow. You will join a supportive management environment where initiative, good leadership and a strong customer focus are valued.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional who is looking for their next management position within a reputable and growing business, with the opportunity to take ownership of a key part of the venue's operation and progress their career within the hospitality and entertainment sector.
