You will be joining a leading insurance business based in London, working within an established and collaborative finance function. The organisation offers a fast-paced, professional environment and is looking for an experienced Management Accountant to provide additional support to the team on a temporary basis. The role offers hybrid working, giving you flexibility between home and the London office.
Your new role
As a Temporary Management Accountant, you will support the wider finance team with the preparation of monthly management accounts, month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments. You will assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, while providing clear financial information to key stakeholders across the business. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can quickly get up to speed and add value within a busy insurance finance environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and reporting packs.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and post journals, accruals and prepayments.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
- Provide clear commentary on financial performance and key variances.
- Work closely with stakeholders across the business to provide financial information and support.
- Assist with audit queries and ensure financial controls are maintained.
- Support the wider finance team with ad hoc reporting and analysis.
- Identify opportunities to improve and streamline existing finance processes.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Previous experience working as a Management Accountant, ideally within the insurance or financial services sector
- Strong experience across month-end reporting, reconciliations, accruals and prepayments
- Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- Part-qualified status, or equivalent experience
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
- The ability to hit the ground running within a fast-paced finance environment
- Immediate or short-notice availability for a temporary assignment
