Lorien's leading banking client is looking for a skilled and proactive Data Analyst with strong SQL and ETL expertise to support the development, automation and optimisation of data pipelines and data solutions. The successful candidate will have experience in data engineering, data warehousing, data modelling and data quality, ideally within a regulated environment.
The ideal candidate will be a technically strong Data Analyst with hands-on SQL and ETL expertise, capable of designing, developing and automating complex data pipelines. Previous experience working within Financial Services is highly preferred, particularly within Banking or Asset Management, with an understanding of data governance, regulatory requirements and controls. Snowflake experience is also highly desirable, while SQL Server and Informatica would be advantageous. They will combine strong technical and analytical capabilities with excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
This role is based in Edinburgh OR London.
This role will be Via Umbrella.
Working in a Hybrid Model of 2 days a week on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Engineering & Automation: Design, develop and optimise data pipelines, automating manual processes to improve efficiency, scalability and reliability.
- ETL Development: Deliver ETL technical design, data extraction, transformation and loading, ensuring accurate and efficient data integration.
- Data Quality & Governance: Perform data quality testing, cleansing, validation and monitoring to maintain data integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Data Warehousing & Modelling: Develop and maintain data models and warehousing solutions to support business reporting and analytics.
- Data Sourcing & Analysis: Identify, source and explore new datasets using appropriate tools and technologies.
- Streaming Data: Support the development of streaming data ingestion and transformation solutions, aligned with the organisation's data strategy.
- Continuous Improvement: Introduce modern data techniques, automation and development best practices through collaboration, training and experimentation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with technical teams, business users and senior stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective data solutions.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong SQL expertise, including complex querying, data manipulation and optimisation.
- Proven ETL experience, including pipeline development, technical design and data integration.
- Experience in data quality testing, cleansing, monitoring and validation.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modelling and data engineering principles.
- Experience automating data pipelines and reducing manual processing.
- Knowledge of modern software development practices, version control and testing.
- Experience working within governed or regulated environments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Financial Services experience, ideally within Banking, Asset Management or other regulated financial environments.
- Snowflake experience, particularly data warehousing and transformation.
- Experience working with SQL Server.
- Knowledge of Informatica for ETL and data integration.
- Experience developing streaming data ingestion and transformation solutions.
- Experience introducing new data technologies, methodologies and best practices.
