Role Summary

We are looking for a Chief Data & Analytics Office Business Partner (Vice President) to join our team! You will be the primary interface between data and the business domains. The role ensures that business needs are clearly understood, prioritised, and translated into data outcomes that deliver value and drives adoption, engagement, and alignment with the EMEA data strategy.

You will be responsible for:
  • Business needs are clearly understood and articulated
  • Demand is well-shaped, prioritised, and aligned to both the data and business strategies
  • Strong alignment between business and data teams
  • Data initiatives are adopted and deliver measurable value
  • Stakeholders are engaged, informed, and satisfied
  • The CDAO is seen as relevant and effective by the business

You will bring:
  • Proven track record of working closely with business units (e.g., Front Office, Risk, Finance)
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with ability to engage senior stakeholders
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business-relevant outcomes
  • Solid understanding of data management (governance, quality, lineage), analytics and reporting and AI
  • Experience of shaping roadmaps and prioritisation frameworks aligned with business and data strategies
  • Experience operating in complex, matrixed organisations
  • Experience defining and tracking value and KPIs

Business Area

The EMEA Data Office was established in 2022 within the Operations, Planning and Data Department and is responsible for building out the Bank's data capabilities across all EMEA entities and all datasets.

The Data Office initially concentrated on building foundational governance through improved Data Architecture, Data Management and Data Quality but is ultimately committed to exploiting data more effectively and innovatively across SMBC, to drive new ways of working and improved business outcomes. Our Data Strategy defines a vision for a data-enabled organisation and sets out the strategic outcomes that data must support across the bank. We will continue to evolve the strategy while prioritising key foundational initiatives and business priorities for the next financial year.

We are driving data-led transformation through the bank, and it is a great opportunity to join us on this exciting journey.

Position Description

  • Providing the bridge between the business and CDAO - act as the main link, aligning data and analytics initiatives to business priorities.
  • Shape and prioritise demand - translate business needs into clear, value-driven use cases and manage the backlog.
  • Drive value realisation - define, track, and ensure delivery of measurable business outcomes.
  • Align to strategy - ensure business initiatives fit with CDAO roadmap, standards, and enterprise data capabilities.
  • Support governance - promote strong data ownership, quality, and compliance across the business.
  • Coordinate delivery - work with business and Data Office teams to ensure smooth execution and alignment with expectations.
  • Enable adoption - drive change, embed solutions, and foster a data-driven culture.
  • Communicate and report - provide clear updates on progress, risks, and outcomes.
