Senior Backend Developer, Java, AWS - #2164197

Rate: £500-£600 per day (Outside IR35)
Location: London (3 days per month onsite)
Duration: Initial 6-month contract

We're supporting a financial services client looking for a Senior Backend Developer to help deliver and optimise a suite of cloud-native services. This is a hands-on engineering role with significant involvement in solution design, technical direction, and code quality.

• Developing scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot
• Designing and building RESTful APIs and event-driven solutions
• Deploying and maintaining applications within AWS environments
• Contributing to architecture, engineering standards, and best practices
• Supporting CI/CD processes and Infrastructure as Code initiatives
• Participating in code reviews and mentoring other developers

• Strong commercial experience with Java (ideally Java 21+) and Spring Boot
• Proven background building cloud-native applications on AWS
• Experience designing microservices and API-based architectures
• Good understanding of containerisation and cloud deployments
• Exposure to Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK
• Financial services experience would be advantageous
