Contract type: Full time
Hexagon Group

We are working with an established and highly regarded building services consultancy that is looking to appoint an Associate Building Services Engineer to join its growing team.

The business specialises in providing mechanical and electrical engineering advice to owners, investors and occupiers of commercial property, with a particular focus on the refurbishment, improvement and ongoing development of existing buildings.

This is a varied position that combines technical consultancy, engineering design and project delivery. The successful candidate will be involved in managing M&E projects from initial survey and feasibility through design development, procurement, installation and completion.

The Role

  • Undertake surveys and technical assessments of existing mechanical and electrical installations to establish their condition, suitability and potential for refurbishment or replacement.
  • Develop engineering solutions for the upgrade, replacement and improvement of building services systems within operational commercial properties.
  • Prepare feasibility studies, technical specifications, scopes of work and design documentation for M&E projects.
  • Coordinate mechanical and electrical design activities, working alongside specialist designers, consultants and contractors.
  • Manage projects through the various stages of delivery, including initial feasibility, design development, tendering, procurement, installation and commissioning.
  • Review contractor proposals, technical submissions and designs to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Attend site meetings, monitor construction progress and undertake inspections to assess the quality of installations.
  • Liaise with clients, property managers, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered effectively.
  • Assist with contract administration, project reporting and the management of programme, cost and technical quality.
  • Provide practical engineering advice to clients, considering operational requirements, building constraints and long-term performance.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an M&E professional with experience in building services engineering, ideally gained within a consultancy environment.

You should have a good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems within commercial buildings, together with experience of engineering design, specification development or the delivery of building services projects.

The ability to understand existing installations, identify practical engineering solutions and coordinate projects through to completion will be particularly important.

You will be comfortable communicating with clients, contractors and other consultants, with strong organisational skills and an interest in developing your project management and technical consultancy experience.

A relevant engineering qualification would be advantageous, although practical experience and technical competence are equally important.

Why Apply?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, collaborative consultancy that genuinely invests in its people, offering excellent career progression and the opportunity to take on greater responsibility as you develop. Additionally it comes with a competitive salary and attractive benefits package.
