Reed are currently working with an established and highly reputable South East London based building and construction firm. They have approached us to support them with their search to hire a new Finance Assistant. You will be joining a firm that has a reputation for the long tenure of it’s staff 9average length is 17 years).

As either someone who has completed their A levels or you have had up to 1 years experience working in an accounts role, you will be working closely with the Finance Manager, and exposure to a broad range of finance and business responsibilities. This is an excellent opportunity to learn practical accounting skills while supporting the wider business and longer terms, developing towards professional accountancy qualifications such as AAT, ACCA, or CIMA.

As the newly appointed Finance Assistant and with the support of the team, you will be involved with the following duties and responsibilities.

• Raising and processing customer invoices
• Reconciling financial information and investigating discrepancies
• Supporting month-end accounting activities
• Assisting with VAT return preparation
• Analysing company expenses and credit card transactions
• Supporting purchase ledger and supplier reconciliations
• Assisting with vehicle and compliance administration
• Maintaining financial records and documentation
• Providing support across the finance department and wider business

As your experience develops, you'll take on additional responsibilities and become an increasingly important member of the finance team.

To be considered for the Finance Assistant position, your background, skills and experience will include :

School Leavers

• A Levels completed preferably in an accounting, mathematics or finance related subject.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Good attention to detail
• Confidence using Microsoft Excel
• A genuine interest in finance and accounting,

Finance or Accounts Administrators

• Experience in a finance, accounts, payroll, administration, or bookkeeping role
• Eager to broaden your knowledge and responsibilities

Desirable But Not Essential

• Studying or considering AAT, ACCA, or CIMA qualifications
• Experience with Sage or other accounting software
• Knowledge of VAT, CIS, or construction accounting
• Previous finance or office administration experience

This is an office based role, working out of our client’s head office in South East London which is highly accessible to transport links.
