Head of Finance - #2166702
The Fortune Group
Ruby Group is working with a growing international software group to recruit a Head of Finance. This is an opportunity to build the group finance function, work closely with the leadership team and help shape how the business grows.
The group brings together established software businesses and supports their development over the long term. Its central team is small and entrepreneurial, so you’ll have plenty of responsibility from the outset. You’ll put reliable reporting and controls in place while helping the businesses within the group improve their own finance operations.
The role
Your remit will cover group reporting, consolidation and preparation for the annual audit, alongside board and investor reporting. You’ll also contribute to debt and equity fundraising as the group develops.
A substantial part of the role will involve working with the finance teams and management of the businesses within the group. Some have limited finance resources, so you’ll need to understand what each business needs, set practical priorities and follow through on the improvements.
You’ll be encouraged to make good use of technology. There is scope to simplify processes, automate routine work and improve the quality and speed of management information across systems including Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.
As the group grows, you’ll help develop the finance team around you. The position offers a longer-term opportunity to progress towards a Group CFO role.
Your background
You’ll bring sound technical accounting knowledge and experience of building or improving a finance function in a growing business. Training in a major accountancy firm, followed by a finance role in a start-up or scale-up, would be a strong fit. ACA, ACCA and CIMA backgrounds will be considered.
Experience in software would be particularly useful, as would working in a business backed by external investors. You should be comfortable taking ownership, working through unfamiliar problems and explaining finance clearly to people across the business.
An interest in automation needs to be matched by the willingness to get involved in the detail. You’ll also need to enjoy working closely with colleagues in an office environment. English is essential; an additional European language would be helpful. The package and working arrangements
The salary is £90,000–£120,000, with a performance bonus and equity. This is a permanent, full-time role based in White City, London, with five days in the office.
