Robert Half

Senior Internal Auditor - IT | Major Infrastructure & Energy | Central London (Hybrid working) | £70,000-£77,000 + Bonus + Benefits | Permanent Role

Robert Half are partnering with a leading UK infrastructure and energy organisation with a diverse and evolving operational landscape.

As the business continues to evolve, its Internal Audit function is growing, creating an excellent opportunity for a Senior Internal Auditor - IT to join an established team and contribute to strengthening governance, risk management and internal controls.

This is a hands-on technology audit role where you'll lead assurance engagements across IT governance, cyber security, digital transformation and technology risk. You'll work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, providing clear, evidence-based insight to improve controls, support decision-making and help manage emerging technology risks.

About the Position

As Senior Internal Auditor - IT, you'll lead technology-focused audit engagements from planning through to reporting, assessing the effectiveness of IT controls and identifying opportunities to improve governance and risk management.

This is an audit and assurance role rather than a hands-on technical IT position. The ideal candidate will bring experience across both IT Audit and broader Internal Audit, combining technical knowledge with strong stakeholder management and report-writing skills.

Day-to-day, you'll:

  • Plan and deliver IT audit engagements, including risk assessments, control testing and reporting.
  • Assess IT governance, cyber security, information security and technology risk management.
  • Test IT General Controls, including access management, change management, incident management and third-party technology controls.
  • Evaluate technology risks across enterprise applications, cloud environments and digital transformation programmes.
  • Prepare audit reports and provide practical recommendations to strengthen internal controls.
  • Agree management actions with stakeholders and monitor their implementation.
  • Contribute to audit planning and collaborate with other assurance teams and co-sourced partners.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in IT Audit, Internal Audit, Technology Risk or Assurance.
  • Experience across both IT Audit and broader Internal Audit.
  • Strong knowledge of IT controls, technology risk and cyber security governance.
  • Experience delivering audit engagements, including control testing, documenting findings and reporting recommendations.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001 or equivalent.
  • A relevant professional qualification, such as CISA, CIA, ACA, ACCA, CPA or CA, or equivalent relevant experience.

Here's What's Waiting for You

  • £70,000-£77,000 base salary, depending on experience.
  • Up to 5% annual bonus.
  • Hybrid working- 2-3 days per week in the office.
  • 28 days' annual leave, increasing to 30 days after five years, plus bank holidays.
  • Option to purchase additional annual leave.
  • Pension scheme with up to 7.5% employee contribution and 15% employer contribution.
  • Additional health, financial wellbeing and lifestyle benefits.

Why This Role Could Be Your Next Move

This is an opportunity to develop your career within a growing Internal Audit function, gaining exposure to complex technology risks, cyber security and digital transformation.

You'll have genuine ownership of audit engagements, visibility across the business and the opportunity to influence improvements to governance, risk management and internal controls.

The role would suit an IT Auditor looking to broaden their internal audit experience, or an Internal Auditor with a strong technology risk specialism who wants to take on greater responsibility.

For someone looking to combine technology expertise, audit delivery and meaningful stakeholder engagement, this is an excellent opportunity to take the next step in their career.
