Interim Tax & Treasury Lead | 6-month contract | Central London (hybrid) | Outside IR35 (initial assessment)

The opportunity

A fast-growing international technology and media business needs an experienced finance professional for a 6-month, full-time project. You'll get group tax and treasury under central control.

The business has operations across multiple international markets, and each one runs its own finance. There's no central view of tax or treasury yet. You'll report to the Group CFO, who will set clear deliverables and work closely with you. Your job is to find out what's going on, build the processes and tools, and come back with practical solutions.

This is a hands-on, solution-focused role. It is not about preparing tax returns, setting tax strategy or raising finance.

What you'll deliver

Tax

  • Drive a set of priority tax work-streams with the Group's external advisers.
  • Build a central view of the group tax position: legal entities, tax losses and how they're used, transfer pricing, inter-company balances and the compliance calendar.
  • Make sure tax losses and other tax attributes are tracked and protected.
  • Work with local finance teams and advisers in other countries.

Treasury and working capital

  • Map every bank account in the Group and bring banking under central visibility.
  • Build a central cash management model with regular reporting of the global cash position.
  • Work out what drives working capital in each business unit and propose practical improvements.
  • Map inter-company funding and loans, and recommend how to simplify them.
  • Design approval controls for cash and banking, and document everything so the finance team can run it after the project.

About you

  • Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CTA, typically with 5-10 years' post-qualification experience.
  • A solid grounding in group or corporate tax and/or treasury operations, and a ideally an interest in both.
  • A practical problem-solver who comes back with solutions, not just data.
  • Very strong with spreadsheets and modelling.
  • Confident working with Big Four advisers and senior stakeholders.
  • A self-starter who takes ownership and moves at pace. NetSuite experience is a plus.
  • Available immediately or at short notice.

The details

  • 6 months, full time, starting as soon as possible.
  • Central London, hybrid. You manage your own time and come in for key meetings.
  • Competitive day rate.
  • One-stage interview process, with interviews happening next week.
